Carved from old carrera marble, the quality of which is no longer available, it was quarried nearly a century ago.
Lithe Stone is Brian's first stone carving. Over the course of a year, Brian studied the stone and experimented with various hand-crafted tools.He directly carved the stone to extract the image he saw. Brian's art teachers at Lyme Academy often likened his sculpting style to that of a carver. And so it seemed natural for Brian to create a wonderful masterpiece in stone.
This particular stone is precious to Brian. It was his first stone and will always be a one-of-a-kind piece. It also represents Brian's desire to create a piece that incorporates elements of relief and full in-the-round sculpture.
Lithe Stone includes a unique stand specifically engineered and created by Brian Moneypenny for this distinctive piece. Stand measures 11" x 12" x 53".
